FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

We recommend starting off with a Part Time VSA. We’re finding with the current average volume of leads on a monthly basis when ad spend is approx. $30-40 per day, the part time is a good start. From there, we can look to increase those hours for the VSA to full-time. We want to ensure the volume is there for both the studio and the placed VSA.

This will vary depending on the service you are currently on with LIFT. If you are on our full LIFT system retainer, then if we remove the ISA from your account, the amount will be reduced to what we call our Velocity package. We can discuss this with you in further detail.

This is managed at the studio level. The VSAs placed within your studio are on your studio alone. We don’t run this program like a call centre. We empower the VSA’s to see themselves as an extension / employee of your team so vacation needs to be approved by you at the studio level. With regards to invoicing if your agent is on leave for over a week, we can certainly look at reducing the monthly amount by a pro rata amount. The
2 years in which we’ve had a VSA within our studio, we’ve never had vacation time longer than 2 or 3 days so it’s never been a challenge. It’s around the setting of expectations and ensuring that they’re still online to manage the lead flow even if they are away.

This will be a conversation with your VSA. The VSA is essentially your resource, your employee. For the retention of the VSA, we highly recommend autonomy around the way they schedule their hours. The VSAs which are successful within their studios are the ones who schedule their hours around the lead and not necessarily a specific blocked off time.

Yes, a contract is to be signed however it is month to month with a 30 day notice period. We have a set commission structure which we encourage studios to implement. We have found this commission structure to be fair for both studio and VSA In relation to performance of the VSA – this is where we highly encourage our studio partners to communicate with their dedicated Account Manager. Our Account Managers will then communicate with our recruitment specialist who oversees our placed VSA’s.

The commission is paid 1 month in arrears and the total is communicated and confirmed directly between you and the agent. Once you have approved the total we will help to facilitate the payment. The agent will send their commission list and total to you in writing within the first week of each month. Once you have confirmed the sales and total, we will charge your credit card on file and pay the commission over to the agent. We don’t take any cut on the commissions the agent earns, we just help facilitate the payment due to the challenges with banking regulations.

This will be managed by you at the studio level. We highly encourage that you have a brief sales huddle with your team at some point in the morning. The purpose of this huddle is to go through metrics such as how many people are on trial, how many they’re expecting to convert etc. As well as any challenges their facing with certain leads.

This will come down to the communication within your studio. If the coach says “Hey Altus, John is coming through the system – he’s a referral and I’m all over it.” then the VSA won’t attempt to reach out to them meaning no commission will be paid for a sale that isn’t attributed to them.

We highly recommend for studios to not overthink the process. The resource at a full time level is $6.10 per hour plus comm at a part time level $8.50 per hour plus comm. If you work the math backwards, even if you pay a few membership commissions that are 50/50 in the way of whether it’s the VSA or not, you’re still winning when you’re netting a higher number of membership growth.

The success of the VSA does come down to you at the studio level. To give you an idea on how we manage our VSA’s within our 2 studios:

  • Every weekday we have a 10-15 min sales huddle to speak through sales metrics.
  • Communication through our team whatsapp channel is paramount to the success of the trialer coming through.
  • Feedback loop by the trainers through the same channel.
  • Follow up by the VSA – get a second and third session booked.
  • Kickstarter sold communicated via the same channel and inbody scan booked in.
  • Trainers provide feedback throughout the kickstarter to ensure success of the VSA to close the deal. There’s many times where the sale often happens in the studio at the after scan but we still attribute to the VSA as they’re following up throughout the kickstarter journey.

We can understand that this may be little foreign to you and we know employee relations within other parts of the world can be very different to what we work with here in South Africa. We can assure you that the VSA’s we hire are well trained, well-educated and have the means to work remotely. The success of the VSAs comes down to how well they’re integrated at the studio level.
